A Legacy of Distinguished Pet Care
Born from personal experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by pet owners, TuscanHound Air emerged from our acclaimed sister company, TuscanHound Florence. When founder Maryanne Day relocated to Florence in 2008 with her Irish wolfhound-sheepdog mix, she faced a universal dilemma that countless pet owners encounter: how to travel internationally with a large breed dog without subjecting them to the stress and risks of cargo transport.
A Partnership of Passion and Expertise
Together with co-owner Chloé Waller, Maryanne transformed this challenge into an opportunity. Their shared vision and complementary expertise created a revolutionary approach to pet travel and pet care. While Maryanne’s years of experience with large breed travel highlighted the urgent need for change, Chloe’s strategic insight helped shape TuscanHound’s evolution from a premium pet care service in Florence to an international luxury pet travel experience.

The Challenge We Solved
For years, owners of larger breeds, bronchial breeds like English and French bulldogs, and breeds such as Mastiffs, Shar Peis, and other substantial companions faced an impossible choice. Airlines consistently relegated these beloved family members to cargo holds, causing unnecessary stress and anxiety for both pets and their owners. We knew there had to be a better way. If we wouldn’t let our dogs travel in cargo, why should yours?
Our Revolutionary Solution
Today, TuscanHound Air proudly offers what others deemed impossible: in-cabin travel for ALL pets, regardless of size or breed. Our specially configured cabins accommodate everything from Shih Tzus to Saint Bernards, ensuring every pet travels with the dignity they deserve. With a dedicated veterinary specialist aboard every flight, we’ve created the safest, most comfortable travel experience possible. “Jefferson,” Maryannes beloved sheepdog/wolfhound mix has led an extraordinary life in Italy and has since traveled the world…always in cabin, never in cargo.”
